We are happy to report to you on a fruitful month in ministry!
In their role as elders representing Union Church of Guatemala, Mike and Doug
Johnson had the opportunity to travel to Salquil Grande to Light and Life
School. Union Church has committed to sponsoring three new students this
year. It was a wonderful evening with music, dinner and a lot of laughter!

Mike and I also had the opportunity to host a construction team from Mauston,
Wisconsin. Mike's boyhood church, Bethany Lutheran, sent 10 workers here determined
to serve a single mom, Maria Louisa, and her four daughters (Maria
Jose, Mildred, Andrea and Dulce). With the help of the junior class at CAG
(Christian Academy of Guatemala), we were able to accomplish a lot in a short
period of time. The juniors gave us one of their “servant days”; they were able to
empty the house, take down the lamina house, and then spent three hours hauling
cement block to the back of the property, saving us “older folks” much time
and energy. The team spent the next six days at Maria Louisa's house. They
were able to build up the exterior walls and also most of the interior walls before
their time ran out. Our foreman, Don Gregorio, and his son, Cesar, will continue
to work at the house until it is finished. He hopes to have the house completed
within three weeks.
The team had a wonderful time of prayer Friday afternoon with Maria Louisa and
her girls. It was wonderful to be a part of it all!
Once the house is completed we will post it on the website for all to view!
Blessings,
Chris
