COMMUNITY MEETING ** BALCONES DE PALIN

Dr. Estrada met with the local leadership in Balcones to discuss their concerns with them, and to learn how we can better serve their needs. It was a very productive meeting. There has been some frustration with finalizing the land purchase next to the church where we are holding clinics now. Eastminster Church, Wichita, has provided funding for the purchase, but finalizing the transfer of title has taken a lot longer than we had anticipated. Please pray the lawyer will comply with what he has promised to do for us in this regard.

Erick and I have also recently returned from a trip to meet with Tono, the hospital administrator in Chichicastenango. He is very interested in having Dr. Estrada and I visit on a regular basis to help them put into place a vision statement and mission statement for the hospital. We will be assisting them in implementing the lessons we learned from Dr. Macagba's workshop on "Managing Hospitals in Difficult Times". There is tremendous potential for this hospital to be a powerful force for the Gospel in Chichi, where there is so much Mayan witchcraft taking place.
