Update
The Christmas holiday season was a wonder to behold at El Refugio.
We were blessed with some wonderful outings for the ladies and children at El Refugio. Some area churches invited our group to Christmas parties; one of the churches had a raffle, which allowed our ladies to win a 14-pound turkey. It was a very special treat that they were able to enjoy on Christmas Eve. For two of the families it was the first time they had ever had turkey. Tina, one of our volunteers, prepared the special meal as a blessing to the group.
Thanks to generous contributions to our ministry, everyone at the shelter enjoyed receiving Christmas gifts this year. We also received enough funding to keep the shelter open through February. Thank you!
Just days before Christmas, Rosie’s parents traveled five hours by bus to pick Rosie and her two boys up to bring them back to their village. Through much communication they have assured Pamela that Rosie and her boys would be safe with them. She was a sweet gentle woman who had received much healing in her life. We pray that she will be strong enough in her new found faith to continue down the road she is on.
The week before Christmas brought some wonderful volunteers to El Refugio. A close friend to Pamela brought her skills as a hairdresser to the shelter and gave everyone a Christmas haircut. Pamela’s mother also came by the shelter to teach the women how to make her traditional tamales. They all enjoyed the whole experience, with many tamales left behind for their eating enjoyment.
As we enter the New Year we continue to be humbled by God’s incredible provision in the lives of those we care about in our ministry. We pray that the Lord would provide for you in ways that could only be credited to living by faith.
May the Lord bless you,
Chris and Mike
