Weaving Hope Update
Greetings from El Refugio, home of the shelter for abused women and their children. Recently we enjoyed the opportunity to host two young ladies from Michigan-Indiana who volunteered some of their time at the shelter. Julissa and Shelly came to us through our friendship with their parents. At one time we had all attended Community Church in West Bend before each followed God’s leading in ministry.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have any children in the shelter during their time here, so we put them to work doing inventory on all the women’s and children’s clothing that had been sitting in bins. When we receive women and children they are usually coming to us with only the clothes on their backs. The work our young volunteers did will make finding the appropriate sizes for those in need much easier. Also, with everything inventoried we now know how much clothing we have for what size, which should help in keeping needed sizes in stock.

1) Vilma as she prepares to leave El Refugio
With our last visit to shelter before heading stateside, we had the chance to say goodbye to Vilma, who was leaving the next morning. She is moving in with her aunt who lives in the Capital and hoping to find employment. She was a sweetheart to have around and she will be missed.

2) Lydia happy and healing
We also received Priscilla and her two children, Stefani and Billy. Priscilla’s husband left her, leaving her unable to pay the bills. She moved home and found her father molesting her daughter one day, which reopened some very old wounds. She will begin counseling as soon as Suzie our counselor recovers from her flu. It seems to be going around a lot.
Please continue to pray for the financial, physical and spiritual needs at El Refugio.
Blessings,
Chris and Mike
